Project Leader, Facilities Construction
The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is seeking a strong and emerging Project Manager who can bring their excitement and experience in leading small to medium sized construction and renovation projects throughout PHSA sites, from Vancouver Island, to the BC Interior, and beyond. Our goal in PHSA Facilities Management is to ensure our patients and employees have facilities which enable the best possible health outcomes. Managing contracts of up to 2-3 million dollars, as the Project Lead, you will work with our many stakeholders, including clinicians, support workers, patients, researchers and emergency responders, to ensure that facility requirements are efficiently and creatively met.
We support the following clients: BC Children and women’s, BC Cancer,BC Cancer research,BC Mental Health facilities, the PHSA corporate office and BC Emergency Health Services sites. Duties:
- Manage the planning and implementation of small to medium sized projects from the initial planning and design stages through to implementation and completion.
- Procure consultants and contractors and manage design and construction work.
- Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders, convey information and respond to queries and concerns with respect to project status in regards to design and construction matters.
- Provide frequent clear and concise reports to PHSA Facilities Management and program leadership regarding ongoing issues, progress updates, challenges and opportunities.
- Provide input into project business plans and charters; conduct feasibility studies and space optimization design; perform analysis; and develop solutions.
- Provide recommendations on options to improve the operation, efficiency and effectiveness of impacted business units.
Qualifications:
- Education, training and experience equivalent to a Diploma in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or other relevant area.
- Five (5) years' recent, related experience in project management, leading and directing building construction and renovation projects in complex institutional, government, and education facilities.
- Experience in space planning, understanding building assets, and leading construction renovation projects.
- Project Management professional designation considered an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Effective facilitation and persuasion skills to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.
